    Talking I love Wal-Mart

Went to Wally World tonight and was going to pick up some ammo while i was there. While standing there, i saw a Ruger 10/22 and while i've shot one before, i never got around to getting one. I figure with the cost of ammo now, i might as well get the darn Ruger and call it a night. Got it for $210 out the door, took all of 15 minutes. Gonna go shoot it tomorrow and zero in my AR, anyone want to go

Everything i've read says the Wal-Mart long guns are the same as any other, and i figured at $193 it was pretty cheap. Anyone else have a Wally World rifle?

That's where I bought my first gun, also a Ruger 10/22 but in the Stainless model.

Not WallyWorld, but I bought one of the last K-Mart guns. They had a sale on their remaining rifles and my dad didn't own a lever gun, so I picked up a Winchester mdl 94 .30-30 (Ranger, I think it was) for under $250. When was this? 4 or 5 years ago? Something like that. It was a major pain in the ***, the hag behind the counter didn't really know what she was doing and seemed disgusted with the whole transaction.
Except for the price, it was not a good experience. Within a week the store didn't have anything but shotgun shells. I suspect they sent the rest of their inventory somewhere.

Sorry, that's the only story I have. I bought a box of .22LR and one of .380acp at WalMart one time, but that's an even less relevant story probably.
A plan is just a list of things that don't happen.

I thought it was going to be a bit of a hassle to buy, especially when i saw an older lady behind the counter as i walked up. She was awsome. She asked if she could help me with anything, i asked about the Ruger, she asked if i wanted to see it. I fondled, made the decision, she asked for my ID, pulled out the ATF form, i filled it out, and was on my way in 15 minutes. She was actually very knowledgeable (for a Wal-Mart employee) and it was a pleasant surprise. She even commented how quick this transaction was, said it was the fastest in her 4 years working there.

Besides being escorted out of the store, it went better than i would have imagined. Gotta love Wally World!

Fancy that, I also bought a Walyworld 10/22 this afternoon.

I've been looking for one for a while and was disappointed to find the 2008 models now had plastic trigger groups and barrel bands. It was hard to tell by looking what the TGs are made of until I figured out all the new plastic ones have a grooved trigger and an extended mag release. Then just by chance while checking walyworld ammo prices I spotted a 10/22 carbine in the display case that appeared to be old school. I checked it out and sure enough I bought it for $193.

    Plastic/blued 10/22s are $219 at Sportsman's and Green Mountain.

Here's the weird part, My rifle's SN starts with 351, and the newest prefix listed on the Ruger site is 259 made in 2007. Supposedly all the 2008 10/22s are plastic so I'm not sure what to make of this.

I posted a thread over on rimfire central about this, not much response yet but someone speculated it may be a transitional model. I was wondering if maybe it's a new walyworld special. (there has been a 20” sporter model that's only available at Walmart for a few years)

I post as Spyvie over there and at THR, but I decided I didn't want the same handle as the bad guy from Dances with Wolves so I've been registering as AZFats lately.

    Congrats.

I've got to say the best part about the 10/22 I bought a couple months ago is buying ammo for it. Just under $30 for 1000 rounds is great

Of course I went nuts and the only original part now is the receiver. rimfirecentral.com is an evil place to visit, especially stay out of the ultimate forum over there

Well, I jumped on the Ruger bandwagon and just bought another one. Plain Jane model. I got another one in trade last year from someone here on the board and love shooting it, but it doesn't have iron sights. I wanted to be able to practice marksmanship and found one at Liberty guns in Fort Collins for $150. He also has about 6 Ar-15's under 900 that I lusted over, but could only afford the Ruger. Can't wait to go shoot it.
