CCW Cards.

Hey Guys, long time no post in here but I had a question. My permit is just about to expire, and before I renewed it I wanted to see what the cards in various places "looked like". I know that may sound pretty silly but the one I have now is from Boulder county - and it looks like it came out of a vending machine or something, maybe a box of Captain Crunch. It is cheap brittle plastic with pathetic printing - I have moved a few times (some in Boulder then out) and even though I am on my third card it is on the verge of falling apart in my wallet.

So the question would be - where is the best place to get my new card? I am mainly concerned with durability and a "real" look - but who am I kidding, holograms are cool too.

So here are my options as far as I know:
1) I can renew in Boulder county
2) I can get an El Paso county card from my primary address
3) I can get a Garfield county card from my secondary work address

So which of those is best?

I thought you are required to obtain it from the county your primary residence is in.

CRS 18-12-205 (2) (a) An applicant shall complete the permit application form and return it, in person, to the sheriff of the county or city and county in which the applicant resides, to the sheriff of the county or city and county in which the applicant maintains a secondary residence or owns or leases real property used by the applicant in a business, or to the sheriff that previously issued a permit to the applicant...........

I researched my question a tad.... This is current Colorado Revised via Lexis Nexus.

Really the question was just about the cards appearance.

No offense but if you're main concern is the cards appearance I think you have no bussiness carrying a gun in the first place.

If you are so insecure that you feel it necessary to argue and insult a faceless name over the internet - we all oughta have some more serious worries about you. In any case, I hope things start going better for you - I feel for fellow shooters in rough times.

As I stated - the main concern is durability. Perhaps you have the time and willingness to continually get and pay for replacement cards because they crack with zero handling in your wallet - but I don't. Time I'd rather spend shooting.

Cool, never knew they changed it. Anyway, I've seen a few cards from various counties. Many counties have changed over time in an attempt to make the cards look the same statewide. My original Teller County one looked like amateurs put it together. The current one looks similar to the El Paso County one. Perhaps these people have more info on appearance.

I don't know how the Teller County one could be any worse than the Boulder one. Seriously, the thing cracked within a week. LOL. You would think that for $150 they could have printed it on a flexible plastic.

ETA - Is the Teller County one pretty durable? Using say a Colorado drivers license as a benchmark? As long as it doesn't crack it's fine - the reality is it never sees the light of day anyway - but if the occasion ever arose that I needed to show the thing to prove I was legal I'd prefer that I don't have to pull out the various pieces to present to the officer. If it is similar to an El Paso one, that would probably be the easiest route.
