I missed this before, but 9news is reporting this will all cost $500 million. So much for cutting spending...but we all forgot about all that economic mess anyway, so no biggie.

Small potatoes. We'll just get the rich people to pay for it! Unless they work in the entertainment industry. . . or belong to a union. . . or contributed to the 2012 campaign. . .

Stop whining. $500 million is a rounding error on the current budget and doesn't make a difference either way.

Its a lot of money to you and me, I think it keeps the federal govt running for a couple minutes at our current pace of spending.

Edit: I looked it up. Sorry, I was wrong. $500 million will keep the federal govt running for about 46 days out of the year.

It's still not that huge a deal in terms of its impact on the budget, even if it turns out to be true (and how you could estimate how much $ it would take to implement these things so quickly is beyond me.) Better to attack them through other ways.

Did you mean 4-6 days? That's the number I'm coming up with.

Government spending is a problem. They just committed to more spending when they have NO money. $500M or $500T, it's a problem.

But as always Pancho, your post was a pleasure to read.

Yeah, fuck it. What's half a billion when you're already insolvent to the tune of 16 trillion? If it saves just one life. . .
