Um Reagan was very prolife and he had no trouble being a monumental figure in politics. The party is suffering from not having any charismatic figures, not its positions.

Not when it's a woman voter you're talking about, and the other guy was consistently spouting how he's going to try to overturn Roe v Wade and end Planned Parenthood when it's not even a current issue. The ones who voted for BO were voting against Ryan. I'm sure you're all familiar with that concept of voting for the guy you hate the least, as it's what most of you did.

Again, legislating this issue at the federal level is outside the bounds of authority granted to Congress. It's fine to be against abortion (I am as well, for the record), that's your right to stand on your moral/religious convictions, but this is a State level issue at most.

Very impressive rebuttal.I provide an example that disproves the premise and you respond with a baseless opinion. Furthermore several latest polls show that more Americans identify as prolife than proabortion. But sure its the policies not the lack luster candidates.

No, she was lying to herself if she claimed to be for the Second Amendment and liberty and voted for BO. Obama's documented track record is hugely anti-gun and strongly for government interference in personal liberties with the exceptions of forcing not just acceptance but public financing of abortions and pushing the homosexual agenda (not just tolerance but endorsement). In her mind, that one particular liberty outweighs all the other liberties trampled on by Obama's theory of government including the Second Amendment.

There has been quite a shift in public thinking since those years.. Gay marriage anyone? Ultimately the party has to unite under fiscal, not moral, conservatism or it will die. This has been opined by many political strategists and its one of the reasons why the Tea Party movement scared the hell out of the GOP (and the Democrats - who have seen what a united republican party is capable of).

What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?

Teufelhund explained it quite well ione post up. When you drive away 50% of the population it can be hard to win an election. There were major gaffs about abortion and sex during the last election cycle that drove women away from the (R) party.
Prolife/abortion are personal decisions, family decisions. It is not a decision to be made at government level.

Just because those are the most important issues to you and I, does not necessarily make it so for everyone else.
