    Default Passport

How long does it take to get a passport?
I have to travel out of the country for work, and need a passport and hope somebody on here has experience getting one

I wouldn't do it any later than 6 months prior to travel, and even sooner if a foreign visa has to be applied for the country of travel.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

You can do rush processing by paying more, and if you need it real fast you can go to a passport office they have a few around the country, but you have to get an appointment and have reason for it. Mine took just under 6 weeks when I did it years ago and that was back when they had a huge backlog because of the law changes for going to mexico, canada and the bahamas.

I've done it in less than a week, including a business visa to China, but boy, did it cost.

I got my renewal in 2 weeks but they didn't promise any faster than 6 weeks. If you're starting new then you should really go by the Post Office tomorrow and pay for expedited processing. Depending on where you need to go, you may already be too late to get a visa.

You can expedite via denver: http://travel.state.gov/passport/npi...cies_2684.html

    Of course buyer beware:

    When You Arrive

    1. Take the elevator to the 6th floor, Suite 600
    2. You will be required to pass through building security screening and metal detectors

48 hours if you are in a hurry....but the rush entails a fee.
