Because they are the most powerful pro-gun organization and our best line of defense on all levels.

So, if you want to buy me an NRA membership for a year I'd appreciate it. I'm not poor and I can afford membership on my own w/o putting me and my family at financial risk.

There you go. My NO BS reason. Let me know when to PM my info to you so you can give me my membership. Plus I DESERVE it. ;P

Why I need and NRA membership:

Because they keep the United States Postal Service in business and make sure that my mail box is always full.

Seriously thoug, they do good work, and they are are the loudest voice out there.
Self control: The minds ability to override the body's urge to beat the living sh.. out of some ass.... who desperately deserves it.

The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.

AND THE LUCKY WINNER IS ALXONE
While splogan is more than deserving of a membership. As per his post is is still an NRA member. I was looking for someone who is not a member to get one more person on the NRA team [not to mention their mailing list].
Alxone is not, so he is the winner. IF i was in a better position financially, splogan would have also been picked. Hint for anyone interested in stepping up
Anyway, thanks to all who inquired.

    20 words:

The NRA is the only effective 800 pound gorilla in the room pushing for gun rights when some politicians waffle.

Because, I've heard several media outlets state "the government is afraid of the NRA bullying them"!
