[WATCH] Actor Danny Glover tells students 2nd Amendment was created to protect slavery

Although nynco has a good sentiment, Glover's statement is flat-out wrong. The Second Amendment was inserted for protection against a tyrannical government. If you want to blame anything on racism and keeping slaves in check, you can blame the beginnings of gun control (at least in the South) -- which is exactly the opposite of what Glover said.

Other than your personal hate for the guy, where is that statement wrong? If you could think with a clear head and not your knee jerk hate for anyone liberal you would see Glover just handed you a golden egg.

He just said that those without guns were kept in slavery. Which means, when people are unable to protect themselves or fight back, they will be slaves in the end.

That would be great if his distorted view actually led HIM to that conclusion. Unfortunately it didn't. In fact, he seems to come to the opposite conclusion. And none of us will have the platform to speak from or gather enough attention to refute his statements. He gets to spout his views unopposed.
