CO law that allows the Gov to order confiscation.

I was at the LGS a few months ago when this was brought up. They were talking about how we need to get this law off the books but then the Aurora thing happened and so on, and I have a feeling there wasn't much support for a pro-gun issue. The way it was explained to me was, Louisiana has this same law and this is what allowed them to confiscate weapons after the hurricane. I guess when things really go bad (or whenever he wants to?) the Governor is allowed to order confiscation and according to the law you have to give up your weapons to whatever LEOs are there asking for them.

To me this seems absolutely ridiculous and goes against the whole point of 2A, so I was going to join in on the fight to get this law repealed. If nothing else it is a pro 2A issue that I was hoping to learn more about and at least write to our officials about.

Anyone know about this law or know of any movement on getting this thing killed off?

LA got seriously slapped by the courts as I recall. The NRA was pushing the case.

I believe that was a ballot meaure we tried to repeal last election and got shut down.

That and getting rid of the CBI BC and using NICS like damn near every other state.

B. Nothing in this Section shall prohibit a local governing authority in a high-risk area from developing a plan with federally licensed firearms manufacturers, dealers, or importers to secure the inventory of firearms and ammunition of those licensees in order to prevent looting of the licenseeÕs premises in a state of emergency or disaster. Such plan shall be renewed on a periodic basis. The information contained in the plan shall be deemed security procedures as defined in R.S. 44:3.1 and shall be released only to the sheriffs of the parishes or police chiefs of the municipalities in which the declared state of emergency or disaster exists.
