    Default Ruger GP100 .357

    Hi,

I am looking to purchase my first revolver and after all my searching I keep coming back to the Ruger GP100. Can anyone give some reviews for or against the GP100?

Also, if you know anyone looking to sell a used one in good shape for a reasonable price can you point me in the direction. Thanks!

    Default Ruger GP100.

Hi. I have one for sale now at gunbroker. ( Auction # 165690805)
Take a look, and if you want to examine it in person, I live in Co Springs.
I bought it used, have owned it for about 10 years and only put maybe 200 rounds through it. It is a handful. . in a good way.

I'm sure someone, somewhere, has something bad to say about them. But I've never met them. I don't own one but I've shot a few and I love the things, in fact I've gotten more than my normal odd looks when I say that I like the GP100 more than a similar S&W. Maybe the trigger isn't quite as smooth, I'll give you that, but the shape and something of it just seems to fit my hand better.

I'm not so sure about the newer ones though. I like the old grips, Hogue has never done much for me. I find the wood inset to be attractive and the design of the grip to be comfortable. I haven't shot the new Hogue so I can't really say. Just by its looks, I suspect I'd try to find a replacement.

Last time I was in funds, as they say, I couldn't find a GP100 anywhere. I don't know what the deal was but they were scarce as ... as something that's very hard to find. The few I could find were priced like they were AR's after the election. I haven't really looked since then.

    Good luck
A plan is just a list of things that don't happen.

Thanks for all the input, you made this decision a lot easier. I ended up finding a good deal on a new one in Thorton. It sounds like the stores are trying to phase them out for a new line that Ruger will be supplying soon. We'll see.

I have one and bought it used. I don't know if had work done, but the trigger is WAY better than my friends S&W. I shot his right after mine, and I hated his trigger. He said my gun had a nicer trigger than his brand new 686 .357. Again, don't know what was done to mine, but it was better.
