WTF? They don't provide any hearing protection for tankers? Does ANYBODY in the military get any kind of hearing protection?

Uh, yes. 10 1/2 years on AF flight lines and I never went a single day without hearing protection.

After starting competition shooing, I had multiple sets of custom molded ear plugs with sound channels in them. I wore them while doing convoy in Iraq too. You can always get muffs to put over them, but you really can't beat custom ear plugs.
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be.

Mrs Rooski and I were talking about this last night as she doesn't like the over ear I have when we saw this file photo of Chris Kyle on TV.

Anyone know what kind he's wearing? I'm sure they are something fancy and silly expensive but inquiring minds need to know.

    and...... I'm sad again.....

Don't know what he was using, but I picked up mine from sportsman's warehouse. blue rubber plugs with red cord. came in a two pack for $4ish. They work great. I've used the surefires as well and like them, but these are pretty handy too...

There's a few guys making the custom plugs see in the picture above. Distributer is http://www.earinc.com/ You can spend anywhere from $60 to $500 on a set depending how fancy you want to be. A simple $60 set will last years and blocks the concussion as well as the sound. I use them for shooting, explosives work, nagging wife, etc...

    i have these

    http://www.amazon.com/Remington-M31C.../dp/B000F7P20G

they work great for handgunning. can get in the way of a rifle (or that may be my poor technique). anyway, i like them alot--31db reduction is pretty good for cans, and they are comfortable.
