    Default Springfield EMP 9mm

Hello, seeking some input on the Springfield EMP series of 1911, specifically the 9mm variation (although i'd be happy to hear about 40 as well). Reliability, accuracy, recoil/handling, round counts etc. I realize the chance of finding one in stock anywhere are likely slim to none, but since I started carrying my Champion operator, i've began to consider a smaller alternative, for summer carry or deeper concealment applications, even for a backup. I've yet to handle one, so i'll definitely do that before committing. Thanks in advance to any info.

Got an EMP 40, they are heavy little bastards but I just love mine. It is a little lighter than my Champion, due to the .40 having a steel frame versus the alloy 9mm version.
I have not fired the 9mm version, so I cannot attest to it's recoil. The .40 recoil is a bit snappier than a champion in .45 but not crazy or uncontrollable.
Accuracy is great considering the short 3" barrel, but it can shoot very good groups at 25 yards.
If you want to pop a few rounds off, come down to the Firing line one of these Saturdays, and we could meet up.
My T.P. wheeling and dealing feedback is here.

Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one, and it stinks more than mine.

Thanks a lot for your input Bob, I would certainly enjoy taking yours for a test drive one of these weekends!

5280 Armory had some in stock in the midst of all the panic buying. Not sure now, but was actually surprised they had a lot in stock. Don't call them and ask, they won't tell you.

The Springfield EMP is probably the only 3" 1911 that I would ever feel completely confident in.

There's a reason why most of the high end 1911 makers don't go smaller than 4".
    Longbaugh: Who are you?
Sarno: I'm the guy you might meet one night. When you wake up with a pillow over your head. And the only thing you'll hear is a little pop.
    Longbaugh: You're a bag man.
