    Default RE: C&R's @ Big-5

well, I stopped by big-5 on the way home today just to take a peek at what's new in the 'old' department..

they had one of those $999 Inland M1's on the rack...

    CAI import marked
typical post war carbines (bayonet lugs and adjustable rear sight)
    wood looked like crap
my specimen had an 10(?)-43 Inland bbl... probably original (?)
they don't come with a sling and oiler

guy says' they're all priced the same at every big-5 and they're selling!

I'd like to see one cleaned up.

    The Steyr M95

    wood looked nice,

    rust on the stacking lug
    bolt had lots of rust
blueing wasn't that bad though (where there was blueing instead of rust!)

anyone pick up a C&R from Big-5, clean it up and take pictures along the way...then share with us

I was thinking of checking the Two up here out for the Steyr. I'll let You know.

Any clue on Ammo for the Steyr?

it's elusive, but can be had...

from what I've read.. treat any surplus as corrosive (no biggie, if you've shot 8mm, 303 and the like..just treat for it right away)

    there are supplies to reload.

I'm deciding right now weather I renew my C&R or not.

Take 'em out and shoot 'em! They're a hoot! I'm too blind to hit a damn thing with the iron sights though. Just bought a scout scope setup for my 91/30, need to put it on, but I want/need to do a good detail strip and tuneup on the rifle first. I'd like to refinish the stock too.

There's a lot of Mosin lovers here, and tons of info. http://www.gunandgame.com/forums/mosin-nagant/

Ditto, and I even picked up a model 59 they had on the rack while browsing one day. Now I would still like to get a 91/30 with a hex receiver and a model 38 without the bayonet cutout on the stock. It's kinda like a virus, thankfully it is a lot cheaper than the black rifle bug. Does anyone know if Big5 had either of above? Not that I could buy one now, would just let me know that there are some probably some laying around in people's closet or pawn shops.

Just picked up a M95 carbine from the one up here on wadsworth. Not bad, decent shape, no rust, and not too bad in the cosmo dept. Still have to clean it out of the barrel.

It's about 1/2" shorter than the M38 and I'd say a good pound to a pound and half lighter.
