    ...and survives.

ST. LUCIE COUNTY — Three men escaped serious injury Saturday morning when their helicopter crash in rural western St. Lucie County.

The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened around 9 a.m. when the Hiller helicopter went down in a swamp between Okeechobee Road and Orange Avenue, west of Adams Ranch. The crash site was not accessible from St. Lucie County.

Okeechobee Sheriff’s Office deputies investigated and notified federal authorities.

The crash site later was found to be just east of the St. Lucie-Okeechobee County line.

The pilot, William Harward, 55, of Miami, and his two passengers, Massad Ayoob, 64, and Jonathan Strayer, 46, both of Live Oak, were treated at Raulerson Memorial Hospital in Okeechobee and released. It’s unknown how the three were taken to the hospital.

This story will be updated as more information becomes available.

Especially since it happened so soon after Noveske's accident and the Ratliff murder. Helicopters are not the safest means of transport, but still, so many outspoken and well known firearms advocates having fatal or near fatal accidents in a cluster like that will be cause for speculation amongst the conspiracy theorists. It is quite an unlikely coincidence, and if a few more such coincidences occur in the near future I may need to start investing in aluminum foil.

Glad they weren't hurt too badly, Okeechobee is about the last area I'd want to be in need of serious medical attention.
