I have hunted boar in France, Belgium and Germany and they can be big and take a couple of round to be put down..... But I have never seen a bullet ricochet on their hide! This is crazy.

Oh wait: I just followed one of the link and it says the boar was hit in the head (and died), that the bullet ricochet and hit the motorist at 250 meters.... Not 2 km. The shooter was in a tree stand, his back to the road. The 2 km value was given by the local gendarmes as the practical lethality range of the round....

Yeah, somewhat a tough time believing this one. Many years ago, I caught a ricochet, I was a lot closer than 2 km and it barely broke the threads of the pants I was wearing. I admit, I bled like a stuck pig for awhile, and still have the scar.

Thanks for clarifying. The 2km thing threw the entire story away.

I'm not believing it either. If you've ever worked in the pits at a military range, you've likely either been hit by a ricochet or stood next to someone who was. I caught one in the thigh that ricocheted off the steel target holder and it hurt like hell but didn't even break the skin. This was a 5.56 NATO ball round, fired from 300 yards from an M16A2 and hit me less than 10 feet from where it hit the carriage. Soooo. . .

Motorist hit in the head. Convertible top down ? Through an open side window ? On a motorcycle or scooter without a helmet ? Possibly died from the resulting crash from being struck in the head by the ricochet ? Too many unknown facts.

Remember a few years back, that 10 year old girl that got killed from a BB that came through a screen on an open window ? And another child that was killed while sitting on a living room couch from a bullet shot at a street light across a park then passed through an exterior wall ?

guy in a car, driving his wife to work, window rolled down because he was smoking.... Random. Now the interesting part: the 50 year old guy who died was a local green party member and had several clash with the local hunting club....
