Default Morrison man who said lots of ATF agents would die held without bond Read more: Morrison man who sa

A Morrison man held without bond after allegedly trying to trade explosives for cocaine said he was ready to kill and die resisting any attempt by federal agents to take his guns, according to a document filed in U.S. District Court in Denver.
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents executing a federal search warrant Jan. 24 found several improvised explosive devices at Richard Sandberg's home.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Watanabe reviewed a video Wednesday that an ATF agent recorded at Sandberg's residence before ordering him held without bond.
ATF began an investigation after a confidential informant told a Denver Police detective that Sandberg, 35, had explosives. The detective contacted the agency and the informant introduced an undercover agent to Sandberg.
During subsequent telephone conversations, Sandberg told the agent he had 18 federal issue M67 fragmentation grenades and that he specialized in devices that "make a big boom and not a small boom" and said that he had 11 homemade "frags" and the kill zone would be 20 meters, according to the document.
When the undercover agent and the informant went to his home, Sandberg allegedly said he wanted to trade the devices for cocaine, or for $300 each.
"Sandberg claimed a right-wing declaration of independence/constitutionalist political manifesto and made disparaging remarks about the current administration and them wanting to take away his guns," according to an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Denver.
"Sandberg made numerous threatening statements toward law enforcement and specifically ATF, stating if any (agents) came inside his house to take his guns it would be a bad day for them and lots of them would die."
He showed the agent a Kevlar ballistic panel attached to an iron plate and a piece of plywood and said he would use it as a barricade if law enforcement came to his home.
He also had an iron plated door barricade with "gun turret/cut outs" that he said he would use to block the door. He said he planned to "attach an incendiary device" to the barricade if law enforcement officers came to the residence, the document said.
Sandberg faces two counts of possession of a firearm not registered with the National Firearms Registration, and one count of being a prohibited person in possession of firearms because of his alleged use of a controlled substance.

With all his big threats of how he's going to go out fighting, I'd be interested to hear how the arrest went down. Obviously without incident, or we would be hearing about it for days on every network news channel.

I'm sure it will turn up that he also had a "military assault rifle", so we should ban them......
