That is why I was wondering. I don't want to see him loose everything while he is in there, just because he couldn't pay the storage fee. I figured that is why he was selling it.

I might be able to find someplace to put another safe.

    Anyone in contact with him?

    Okay, here's the deal.

Karl was arrested and charged with 1st Degree Arson (a felonY) and Crimnal Mischief (a felony.)

In March Karl agreed to take a plea deal. He admitted to starting the fire in his house. As a result of the deal he was convicted of Attempted Arson (a felony.) He was sentenced to one year in jail and eight years of intensive supervision probation. With credit for time served the jail time could be reduced to 90 days in jail. The jail time can happen one of two ways. Karl does not have a job. If he gets a job by June 9th, then he will be allowed to do the time as work release. If he is not employed, then he'll do straight time.

We are very sorry that this happened and wish Karl the best. The unfortunate part is that Karl is no longer allowed to own or possess any firearms. To do so would be a new felony. He can not own them, he can not possess them. Which means he can't be around them, he can't shoot them, he can't even hold them. As a result he can no longer attend our group shooting events. To do so would be a violation of state and federal law, as well as a violation of the terms of his probation.

As a result of a felony conviction, and everything that goes with it, Karl is not allowed to attend our group shoots in any capacity, and he is no longer a member here.

This is a very sad situation. But unfortunately we can't do anything about it. We have avoided posting anything about this previously to help protect Karl and this site from any further legal entanglements. Hopefully this will explain what happened and put this matter to rest. We would ask that this topic be allowed to go away so that all of us can move on. If you need any additional information I suggest that you try to contact Karl directly and discuss this in a more private setting.

    Thank you.
