    Default New Indiana Jones Movie

Got to see it on a vendor's dime this morning. I'm glad I didn't pay for it! It wasn't what I wanted for bringing Indy back for another go. Too much Stargate in this one. It appears to me that they just wanted to prime the pump for future movies with Shia LaBeouf as the adventurous archeologist.

I'm hoping to get out this weekend and see Ironman.

I've generaly read bad reviews of the flick, but will take the wife to see it this weekend with some friends of ours.

    Iron Man was good.

    I liked it.

Harrison Ford still kicks ass, Shia whatshisface was good (not great, he was better in Transformers), and it was a good movie.

I saw the 10am showing yesterday morning with a friend from work and the whole crowd busted up laughing at several times in the movie.

I still think Last Crusade is the best followed closely by Raiders, but this is a good movie. Just turn your physics sense off at the door (magnets and the affects of certain really big explosives are kinda twisted a bit) and enjoy it as a fun movie.

I thought the movie started strong and was great for the first half. I thought it was way too easy to figure out where they were going with who was "Mutt's" mom and other character relationships. The wedding was superfluous. It's difficult to discuss without spoilers.

Just my 2 cents on this topic. (No spoilers!)

I remember waiting with baited breath for Temple of Doom to come out - and leaving disappointed. Then being excited once again when Last Crusade came out - my faith was restored.

Now that Crystal Skull is out I was sure Lucasfilm had learned their lesson. Boy was I wrong!

I can clearly see how Shia LeBouf's character is being set up to continue the series (there is active talk of another Trilogy) - with Indy mentoring him. Unfortunately, I think Harrison Ford should have watched the first 3 movies before stepping back into this role. Where was the wisecracking and wholesale cockiness of Indy? What? We get 1 scene with Indy's trademark grin? I felt Ford's acting shouted "I'm only doing this because you talked me into it, but my heart isn't into it".

I'll stop my rant with 2 quick comments:
    a) No spunk
    b) If I wanted to watch Close Encounters of the Third Kind, I would have rented it.

Yep. If Indy isn't battling wits with the Nazis, it isn't worth watching.

Too much CG and not enough stunts. When Indy was battling for control of the truck carrying the Ark in Raiders, those were stunts and they were exciting. The duel at the edge of the cliff was so fake, I couldn't even get concerned. I don't think that the new digital gadgetry makes for a better movie.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Lucas seems to want to milk the Jones franchise like he did Star Wars.
