Default Jeeping near Castle Rock In Feb

I see some members live in or around CR. I just bought a Wrangler and was wondering if there are any jeep trails open around here right now. I made the trek up towards the foothills and was met with a road is closed for season sign. Not sure if they all are. I just moved here a few months back so haven't been everywhere yet. Used to live about an hour East of here.

    Here's a good place to start http://www.traildamage.com/

Also check out the Jeepers thread in the photo forum.

Thanks. I have seen both of those before but was having a problem finding current open-ness status of places within 30 to 40 mins from CR I'm guessing there are some trails around here that maybe the locals are bored of already but I could give a try. Also open to suggestions on places to have work done on my Jeep to make it a bit more capable. Currently a stock 2003 X. I know how to do mechanics but having a problem finding the time to DIY.

Another option is to sign up over here http://www.colorado4x4.org/

there's an entire subforum dedicated to discussing trail conditions.

Maybe its where I'm looking but that colo 4x4 site doesn't seem to have much in the way of new content. Unless they are screening stuff if you aren't a member.

This time of year there's not as much traffic on the site ... I guess less jeepin' goin' on.

There used to be a little 4x4 area of highway 86 but haven't seen it used in a while. Other than that, just head west and dink around. If you take highway 105 south until Dakan road, then head west. You'll eventually get into the mountains and there's some decent areas to flex a little. Nothing "crazy" but can be fun to just get out and toy around. I don't know of many dedicated trails in the area.

Thanks, I'll try that. I had gone to 105 and went North and then tried to get to Rampart and that's where I got the closed sign. I'll go South next time and try Dakan

    I did try this:

and didn't get too far. Sign at 105 said closed 6mi ahead and I think it was only 4 before I hit two fences with gates and appeared they didn't want anything going in there. Just figured I would tell you in case someone else tries it.

You know the gate you ran into north of there? Well this is the locked south gate blocking the back of those trails. That whole area is closed..... There are a couple trails about 45 min west of Castle Rock i want to try and find if your interested?
