I use hard cases for almost everything. I just like the protection they give. I don't go for the expensive cases. A lot of my guns have some sort of optic on them and I get paranoid about them being damaged while transporting them. If it don't have an optic or fragile sights I will use a soft case.

For handguns I usually use a hard case that has a tray in the top for the guns with room in the bottom for ammo and other stuff.

I tend to think of my guns as being a lot more delicate than they actually are. So I worry less when using a hard case.
