Default Looking for AR Dealer from Franktown

    All -
I am trying to locate contact information for an AR dealer from Franktown, CO.

If it helps anyone, this dealer had a table (along the center isle as I recall) at the Sertoma Gun Show in Colo Spr in early May.

While contacting this dealer is my primary goal, I'd take it as a close second if anyone could point me to another dealer (the closer to Colo Spr the better) that sells Stag Arms - specifically 1L's - for somewhere around $850.

I've got an early model Colt CAR-15, but as much as I enjoy shooting AR's, I'm not particularly fond of catching the hot brass down my shirt or in my face so a Lefty AR is strongly desired!

    Thanks for the read!

Did the early CAR-15 have the integral brass deflector to keep the brass out of your face and shirt?

    GMan -

I'm going to say no since I catch too much brass that way, but I will say that the exterior portion of the reciever that holds the left (from the perspective of looking straight as it - towards the rear of the gun) end of the dust cover hinge pin does entend out a bit.

It is a Colt cAR-15, Model SP1, S/N: 211xxx. I received it from my Dad who had it for many years before passing it to me. Because it came from my Dad and it holds sentimental value I haven't wanted to part with it nor modify it at all. This, coupled with the fact that my tactical sling blocks my sights unless I raise the gun "just so", has REALLY driven me to want - nay - NEED - a lefty model AR. (Plus, can anyone even own too many evil black rifles?)

I'll take a few pics of it this weekend and get 'em posted.

Could you just swap the upper for a lefty? I believe the lowers are the same on the STAGs with an addition of an ambi safety.

I know that I could, but as I mentioned before, I want to keep this gun as I recieved it from my Dad and eventually pass it down to my son (a Righty). By getting the Stag that I've been looking at and like, I get exactly what I want for me in the Lefty config.

You can always swap the original upper back to make it the way you received it. It's your gun, your call.

    Later.

Did you overlook SRP right here on the board? He's in the Springs.

Yeah, I exchanged messages with Peter (a.k.a. Aloharover) of SRP - seems like a really decent guy but he indicated that the best price he can get the 1L for me is more than I was quoted by the Franktown dealer +14% fed tax (? - I'm not familiar with this, but then again I've never "ordered" a firearm before). This put the total cost at almost $200 over what I was quoted (I'm not foolish to believe the Franktown guy won't have to chage me CO state tax + background check fees.) I like my toys but I'm still a cheap bugger at heart and getting another firearm has been a tough sell with the wife as it is. Sure, I know who wears the pants in my familiy -- most of the time it's NOT me.

Hey aloharover - I just noticed your evil-black-rifles.com price for the Stag 1L is out of date.

Time for some selling or trading something other than that Colt. How about you just pm me first though, and we'll let the other vultures reading this keep on circling. hahaha

Bird in the hand...you could get the upper now (cheaper, no transfer fee, partial gratification) and then save up money and spousal goodwill. Also, put out a WTB and keep an eye open for a lower. There are deals out there.
