Default Wrote the Town of Erie Board of Trustees and Mayor. RE: Magpul Leaving

Anyone else who is an Erie resident or does business is Erie should as well.

    http://www.erieco.gov/index.aspx?NID=318:
    jwilson@erieco.gov, rgrassi@erieco.gov, jcarnival@erieco.gov, mgruber@erieco.gov, jhager@erieco.gov, jmoore@erieco.gov, pogg@erieco.gov

I tried to appeal to their Economic sensibilities, we'll see if that approach does anything...

ETA: Mayor Wilson is on our side and fighting this bill!! (see his reply below)

    Here is what I wrote:
Dear Erie Board of Trustees and Mayor Wilson,
As a resident of Erie I wanted to write to all of you regarding House Bill 13-1224, and the effects it will have on our town. This bill will do nothing to increase safety (as the County Sheriffs of Colorado have stated), and will have lasting economic effects directly impacting Erie. Magpul, Inc. based here in Erie has said they will leave the state of Colorado if HB13-1224 passes (Denver Post, Business Section, Sunday 2-17-2013, Full page ad), Magpul employs hundreds of people throughout the state with most of them in Erie. I urge you to contact Governor Hickenlooper, and the members of the State Senate and tell them not to pass House Bill 13-1224. The economic impact on Erie from this bill passing will be immediate and hard on our town. Beyond the revenue of Magpul leaving, the revenue to other local business Magpul employees create will be lost. This was evident other day while out to dinner I noticed a group of Magpul employees enjoying the same Erie restaurant. I love our town and I hate to think of what losing Magpul would look like to our economy. Again I urge you to contact Gov. Hickenlooper and the State Senate and tell them not to pass HB13-1224.

    Thank you for your time,
    R.J. XXXXX

    Good angle.
The more local government opposition we can get to put the screws to the big wigs, the better.

I like the approach. Also, which restaurant is this you speak of where Magpul employees go to?

Group of them couple weeks ago at Miner's Tavern. At least I think they were employees, head to toe magpul gear and one guy had the symbol tattooed on his arm.

Just heard back from the Mayor!

    RJ,
    You are very right.

I have been working on the house floor before and after bills and will continue in the Senate version planning on testifying before the committee, this isn't over yet.

Great work! Let's find all of our local leaders for each town and get them to voice their opinions as well

I am hoping that a pallet of PMAGS falls off the semi when they are moving out of my neighborhood. This whole thing is just a bunch of B.S.

i dont know if this mayor is the same mayor or not....but, when Erie considered annexing the land around the Harley Dealership. The mayor said they didnt want that kind of people or business in their city. So, economics might be lost on him. How much taxes do you think that industrial park at Hwy 52 and I-25 brings in? and Erie wanted no part of it. im sure evil magazine dealers are also unwelcome revenue streams.
