Wow that's a little crazy. How long have you had it / how many rounds before you kaboomed it?

Wow. Seems a little premature for breakage aye?
Tried drilling holes and installing base pads on my Colt 1911 mags.
The bitch is the things are stainless steel and a cobalt bit would barely cut the hole, as it was I snapped a titanium bit and a tool steel 4-40 tap...just another day in paradise, now I know why I only do these occasionally, what a PITA stainless steel is...
Got 3 of 4 holes drilled, but need a new 4-40 tap before I can tap the other holes. The "self-tapping" screws that come with the base pads sure as hell don't cut into stainless, all it did when I tried was crush the threads and make a nice smooth screw with no threads...Will have to finish it tomorrow now...then I will have 8 mags done this way.

Oh I get that but seems a little soon. I do tip my hat at 20-30k rounds in 6 months. Holy hot damn!
