I'm thinking of wearing a motorcycle helmet and a flak jacket! Somebody will have pictures, I'm sure.

Honestly, everything checks out great. I measured each round for OAL and visually confirmed the powder in each case before setting a bullet in place. Pretty exciting, actually, when a plan comes together.

Discovered this evening that I think I should have ordered another die for my powder checker for the 9mm head. Kinda defeats the purpose of having multiple heads for multiple calibers if you gotta change out a die.

Finally joined a range and went shooting. Ran about 40 rounds of Winchester white box through a previously-unfired 9mm gun (XDM 5.25) and then started trying out my reloads.

Short story is that I did 30 rounds of 124gr round nose and 30 rounds of 115gr bullets changing powder load by 0.1gr every 10 rounds. In both cases, I really found no difference in accuracy so I'll probably stick with the lightest loads that cycle the gun properly.

I started at the lowest powder suggested in the reloading data. Is there any reason I shouldn't experiment with even lighter loads? I'm just putting holes in paper, after all. My theory is that the lighter load will give less recoil and will allow me to get back on target quicker/easier.

i loaded up 200 rounds of the 124gr bullets when I returned home from the range last night. I felt like I was moving at a snail's pace and it still only took me 22 minutes on the Dillon 650. This included the time needed to clear an upside-down primer jam and the time needed to refill the primer feeder (already had a tube of primers loaded up--just pulled the cotter pin).

I feel like a little kid with all this stuff. I need to get my chores done today (playing lawyer) so I have time to get to the range again this afternoon.

I normally stay below most min starting points but it depends on your powder and gun. I don't know anything about the XDM, my Glock compact and full size can handle lighter loads then a sub compact (stock guns) due to the recoil spring on the subs. I don't modify my guns as far as springs and whatnot so I only compare stock. I have ran thousands of rounds of 9mm with 115 and 124 grain plated bullets using 3.5gr of titegroup powder. I use 3.8-4.2 for 40 s&w and 10mm, and 3.8-4.5gr for 45. I haven't used any other powder in years but I am working on some loads in Alliant promo, still working on how light I can go. Don't go so low you end up with squibs though! Unless your shooting a competition where you need to make a power factor or just like shooting hot loads might as well save the powder and load light.

I do have some 10mm loads I shot in my Glock 20 that make my hand hurt, every once in a while they are fun but not often.

Disclaimer: I DO NOT reccomend straying from published known load data.

I sat in my cave still trying to decide what press to get, high mount or low, blah blah.

I also wish southern bell hadn't screwed up and forgot to ship my 45 gap brass so I would have something to do today.

Ran my first 100 rounds of 40SW through the new Lock n Load. This sure beats loading pistol on a Rock Chucker. The Poor Man's bullet feeder works like a champ.

I was just looking at the lnl. How does it work? Which bullet feeder did you go with?

It works very well. I went with the hornady bullet feeder die fed by plastic tubes from Linens and Things. Here's a link to the bullet feeder idea I swiped. I cut the tubes in half so each one holds 25 bullets:

Have not used my RCBS AmmoMaster press in quite a while so just cleaned and lubed the ram and dies so they're ready for some action. Now my reloading is limited just to .50BMG since equipment/components for all other calibers has been sold/traded off. I sometimes think that I'd actually rather reload than shoot the reloads. I do know that ANY pieces of equipment or components for the .50BMG reloading are damn expensive. If anyone is anticipated reloading for this caliber in the near future, start buying the components now before some CO Congress critter thinks that this caliber is just way too dangerous for their common subjects to own. This is NOT, by any means, meant to be a political rant of any type, just a "heads up" about .50BMG reloading stuff.
