Any reports from today's (6/7) Tanner?

Prices are getting pretty spendy. Heard lots of grumbling about that today while I was walking around.

I walked around that show.. I have to say for the most part people must assume since that it's a gun show the prices must be good one's. Only decent deals I saw were for ammo. almost everything else was trying to be sold for prices well over what you can get locally by retail.

Yeah allot of the prices were well above the retail level. Saw a Taurus 4410 (judge) there in blue and the price marked was $599. Jensen sold me the same thing for $387. I had quit going to Tanner until I bought this AR. As soon as I stock up on what I feel I need I'll probably quit going again, they really are a joke anymore..

I saw case prices at about or maybe 10 bucks less than the internet for 223, and 30-06.

Sad thing was that even Gander Mountains list price is cheaper than what those guys wanted for guns. So much for the era of the gun show. Might as well re name it "show and tell"

I spend a lot of time 'shopping' my online competition. Vast majority of my business is from online sales. I feel that I have a good handle on what the going rates are and would like to think I offer a fair price.
I have items on my tables listed with the same prices as on my web site, yet I still over hear grumbles from people about prices being "too high".

The smaller FFL is limited in where he can buy firearms from. Remington, Winchester, Ruger, Springfield, etc will not deal directly with me. So I must go through a wholesaler. There are a couple online places, as well as the larger chain stores that do buy direct from the manufacturer and don't need to go through a middle man. Buds is one such place. I constantly see them sell products for the exact same price that I get them for. Or at such a low price that when I add in shipping and credit card fees I would loose money if I matched them, so I don't.

Another thing I have seen is a general increase in my cost for things over the past 4-6 months. A number of manufacturers have raised their prices 3-5%, Saigas have gone up over 15%.

Just some stuff to think about.

I am glad to hear that someone was selling some product. I have pretty much given up on the shows. I sell more in a week online then I do during the weekend.

I will concede that it is difficult for small dealers to compete since the big box stores came to town. After 20 years of going to gun shows, and three years of retail firearms sales, I have just lost interest in "shopping" at the gun shows. I can as you know buy things cheaper over the internet. In the day and age of having to have two incomes in a household to make ends meet, every penny counts. Sorry you felt slammed by my comment. It wasn't meant to be personal. Just an observed fact.

I just wanted to provide some information for the discussion.

I do not relate the gun show to a yard sale as I get from some folks. I price my items for the amount I want to sell them for. I think its commical when someone offers me 50$ under whats on the tag and then gets mad at me when I say "No thanks".

I have gotten a bunch of follow on business from the shows. Both sales and DuraCoating. So when adding the 'small' weekend sales with the stuff I get from people that pick up a card and call/email later it all works out.

I am not trying to sound bytchy about the shows, just add my experiances.
