Default AR Scope set up recommendations

I have a new SW AR-15 M&P Sport, I have only the rear magpul dual aperture sight. I really want to dress this up a bit. I am new to the AR world and need some recommendation/suggestions for a moderate priced set up. I cannot afford top of the line by any means. Would $300-$500 be a fair amount for such a set-up? And what are your suggestions. There are so many options, I have no idea where to start. Needs some hep please...

You can go with an Aimpoint PRO for around $400, it comes with its own QD mount, though I replaced mine with an American Defense mount.

If you want to go a magnified route there are the Burris AR332 and the AR536 optics, at around the same price point, good optics, not going to take the abuse of the Aimpoint but as long as you aren't bouncing your rifle on concrete on a regular basis it wouldn't be a problem.

Burris MTAC 1-4 is about the best deal you will find for a magnified optic on an AR this side of $1k.

I'd buy this and a QD mount if I had $400 to spend.

Curious, why do u say that? Do you have personal experience with them breaking under abuse?

I have this with the 600yd BDC reticle: http://www.opticsplanet.com/nikon-2-...8486-8487.html

I mounted it on a Larue LT-104 (I think) QD mount, and I love it. I was easily hitting steel at 450 yds with it from a bipod.

I paid $299 for the scope and I think the Larue mount was $190 for a total of $489 shipped. I love how you can take the scope off quickly to drop weight or to use back up sights, and then put it right back on without the need for re-zeroing.
