I shipped mine back to them, they were in texas iirc, I shipped it to them on thurs. had it back on the following wed. it had the dreaded red ring of death, they repaired it for free, and even gave me a 1 month gold card for my trouble, and they paid shipping both ways.

Car-15, was yours still under warranty? Mine is over a year old. I'll probably have to pay shipping AND repair.

    Thanks,

they actually extended the warranty to 3 years for certain problems, mine was over a year old as well. if you dont have your reciept they go by date of manufacture.

ssf467, Wow, after looking at the negative responses on that link I'm not so sure I want to send mine to them!

    Thanks,

    car-15,
3 years? Well, mine should fall into that. And, yes, it is the RROD problem.

RROD is covered for 3 years. They'll likely send you a replacement unit instead of trying to fix it.

We won one of them before they went on sale. 6 months ago it had the rrod. For shits and giggles I went online, punched in our serial number, and the problem. 2 days later there was an empty shipping box on our doorstep. Packed it in, sent it back, and less then 2 weeks later we had a replacement.

So if they would replace for free one of the very first ones, after all that time, I'm sure they will fix yours for free too. Just remember to take off your external hard drive and only send in the 360 itself. Any cables, disks, etc. will not come back to you.

Thanks for all the info and tips, guys. Looks like I will be starting the process in the next few days.
