I called the SoS and got directed to a .pdf on the rules. Lawyer speak Article 12 is the one regarding recalls. Starts on page 299.
I don't speak legalese, but from what I've read;
The person(s) starting the petition must be registered to vote in the officials district.
Anyone who signs must be registered to vote in the officials district.
The 25% rule we've already covered.
It appears we'd have to WAIT 6 months after the election to file.
File a 200 word or less petition to the SoS for approval explain why the official should be recalled. Once approved, it would be the petition that people would read and then have a signature page attached.
IF the official being recalled re-wins the office, any money they put into being reelected is repaid to them by the state treasury Section 1-12-120 So the idea that this will cost them money could backfire.
This was my first reading of it, but it appears that we will need people in the districts to do this. I'm not sure if there needs to be an official rep or committee as long as the $5000 limit isn't reached.
