Okay, bear with me as I'm new to most of the AR world. While I get that this is a pistol using AR receivers, what the deal with the stem out hte back of the gun where a butt/6 pos. stock would normally be mounted?
Also curious about AR Will's "take the flash hider off" comment. Is this for aesthetics only, or something more?
Just trying to learn.

We are all allowed to ask questions, and we were all new to this at one time, so dont feel shy about it! The "stem" as you called it is the buffer tube. On an AR type weapon the bolt carrier goes back into this tube when the weapon is fired, and the recoil spring that pushes the bolt carrier back forward is housed in here. You wont see this on fixed stock AR's because it is contained inside the stock, and on the collapsable stocks the stock actualy mounts to the tube.
