Default So what can your 5 year old do?

We always hear from libs that we shouldn't have high expectations of kids because they are kids

If I had a 5 year old he wouldn't be in China... Just saying.

This is one of my pet peeves. My old man would purposely set goals for my sister and I that he thought that we would not be able to do. Challenge us with something we would have to stretch to complete, maybe grow into. Many years later when I was grown he told me this, and that more often than not we would accomplish the goal set for us much more quickly than he thought we could. My mom told she would fight him at first, thinking tat he was going to frustrate us putting things out of reach for us, but then when over and over us kids did what she thought that we could not learned to hold her tongue. Kids have an almost infinite ability to learn and grow, if challenged. They also do not know what they can't do, so they will accomplish great things if we don't put our fears into them.
