Has anyone received any replies back from using their direct e-mails?
The only time I get a reply is when I go through the NRAILA page...maybe they automatically catch those with a canned reply and put them in their spam folder - :-(

I think they pretty much could care less if you are not in their district and only slightly care if you are.

If it gets to the Senate, how do you suppose this one will vote?

Thank you for participating in the legislative process, I value your input.
Today's vote on gun legislation is in the House only. As I am a Senator, I am not voting today on these. When they do come to the
Senate, I will look at all sides before I make any decisions. Please feel free to contact me again with any further concerns.

    Sincerely,

    Senator Irene Aguilar, MD

    My Feedback
Credit TFOGGER : Liberals only want things to be "fair and just" if it benefits them.
Credit Zundfolge: The left only supports two "rights"; Buggery and Infanticide.
Credit roberth: List of things Government does best; 1. Steal your money 2. Steal your time 3. Waste the money they stole from you. 4. Waste your time making you ask permission for things you have a natural right to own. "Anyone that thinks the communists won't turn off your power for being on COAR15 is a fucking moron."

I got a email back from Hickenlooper and from Tracy Kraft Tharp.

Not that it meant anything. Just mumbo jumbo.

Thank you for contacting my office regarding gun control.

I will continue to work with all stakeholders to find a balance that guarantees public safety and health while continuing to protect 2nd amendment rights. Mental health policy is a critical component of this policy discussion as well. I will remember your comments as the subject arises and thank you for staying informed of our progress on this subject.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any further questions.
    Sincerely,
    Representative Tracy Kraft-Tharp

Thank you for contacting me with your concerns regarding the recently introduced gun bills here at the State Legislature.

It is hard to ignore the heavy media coverage of past mass shootings in this country. It is all too easy to ignore or miss the daily gun violence.
These add up to an average of 17 Americans daily dying from gun violence.

While it is important that we work to decrease gun violence, we need to do so within the bounds of our 2nd Amendment right to own firearms.
Our nation has a rich history of responsible gun ownership and extensive rights for gun owners, and we at the legislature are working to find a
balance that works for all the citizens of Colorado.

Many of my constituents have written or called asking me to work on sensible gun safety legislation. Others have told me that any restrictions,
including background checks, are an infringement on their 2nd Amendment rights. I would note that the Supreme Court has held that this right,
like all constitutional rights, is not unlimited. Justice Scalia has noted that the 2nd Amendment does not prohibit laws restricting possession
by certain individuals, such as felons and the mentally ill. Nor does it interfere with weapons bans in sensitive locations such as schools. These
constraints have been upheld on the grounds that they do not infringe on the core purpose of the 2nd Amendment, which is self-defense.

There is no one solution to gun violence and it is vital that we approach this problem from every angle. I support the Governor’s recommendations to
strengthen our mental health safety net, improved reporting on individuals barred from gun ownership due to mental health holds and criminal records,
and closing the loopholes in background checks. I recognize and support the rights of law abiding citizens to own guns. None of these common sense
proposals violates the 2nd Amendment as interpreted by the Supreme Court, which I support.

Thank you again for contacting me with your concerns.

    Sincerely,

    Senator Irene Aguilar, MD

What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life, if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?
