Works perfectly. And that's just another reason to like dogs more than people. I haven't met a single dog that was anti-gun or that has voted for a democrat.
Have you ever heard the theory that dogs are democrats and cats are republicans? It's a rigged theory but kind of funny to read..

Funny you mention that, my Sheltie loves lasers, I made the mistake of pulling a Streamlight off of a pistol one night and making him play. Now if I open the safe he goes nuts.

I don't associate with people of these beliefs anymore. When the Nazis were in power in Germany those who conformed were essentially spies for the regime. And that is how one got taken away for re-education or to the showers, for having beliefs not in line with what we should be thinking or acting.

A couple years ago, I was at a thing at my daughter's school, and heard one mom telling another mom (short version) that her child was playing at some other child's house, the one mom saw that the other mom had a Tea Party t-shirt on, and now won't let her daughter play there anymore. The mom to whom she was telling this story agreed, like it was the obvious conclusion. I was disgusted.

Frankly, this doesn't seem much different.

If we self-select out of social situations with people who don't agree with us on hot-button issues, how will we ever teach them? How will they come to know that gun owners are normal people who aren't crazed lunatics that are one bad day away from snapping and taking out half the city? I guess my political stance is hard to put in a box (I typically vote R, but have views that would be considered antithetical to someone of almost any political persuasion), so if I refused to have friends who didn't agree with me, I'd be pretty lonely. But really - yeah, people who have political views you don't agree with can really rub you the wrong way sometimes. Are they people you can have a friendly conversation with? Or are they jerks? If they're jerks, avoid spending time with them because they're jerks, not because of their political views. Likewise, if they're good people, enjoy the time you spend with them regardless of their politics.

I know plenty of pro-gun people (or people who share one or more of my other political views) that really aren't that great to spend time with. I know plenty of people that I disagree with on several key issues, but that are still good people. Sometimes we talk politics and I hope to sway them, or at least test my own beliefs and ability to back them up. Sometimes we avoid the controversies and discuss other things.

It just seems not only sad to pull ourselves into a closed community, but also contrary to our goals of expanding gun ownership and encouraging more people to take up shooting sports and personal defense.
I didn't say I didn't associate with them. I said I don't have any friends that are liberal/democrats or anti-gun. Big difference. I can socialize and be cordial with anyone...doesn't mean I like them or consider them to be my friend.

Why would I want to associate with someone whom I consider to be supporting politicians and a government that wants to do things that are happening right now in Colorado? I wouldn't. I consider liberals to be my enemy. Plain and simple.

My mother is anti gun. As a matter of fact, she was so disgusted with the republican party she voted for Obama twice!! Needless to say, this has put a huge strain on our relationship. Sux.

The majority of people I work with are democrats. I still offer to take them shooting whenever I can. I've gotten one or two interested in guns so far. The best way to convert someone is not to badger them with data that gun control doesn't work but let them actually shoot a gun. The scary mystique of guns goes away once you realize they're just machines and the person holding the gun controls what they do.

And that strikes me as a perfect encapsulation of the problem.

Many of the liberals see us the same way.

Do you think we can improve the state of our country by squaring up on opposite sides and calling each other "my enemy"?
