You can't persuade any of the anti-gunners to our side if you refuse to associate with them. Courtesy, respect, and some good pro-gun arguments based on facts and law (and not ranting and frothing at the mouth) will do our community a lot of good. To each is own, but I'll talk to anyone about guns even if they don't agree with me.

It's interesting so many of you say you won't associate with people who are anti-gun.

A couple years ago, I was at a thing at my daughter's school, and heard one mom telling another mom (short version) that her child was playing at some other child's house, the one mom saw that the other mom had a Tea Party t-shirt on, and now won't let her daughter play there anymore. The mom to whom she was telling this story agreed, like it was the obvious conclusion. I was disgusted.

Frankly, this doesn't seem much different.

If we self-select out of social situations with people who don't agree with us on hot-button issues, how will we ever teach them? How will they come to know that gun owners are normal people who aren't crazed lunatics that are one bad day away from snapping and taking out half the city? I guess my political stance is hard to put in a box (I typically vote R, but have views that would be considered antithetical to someone of almost any political persuasion), so if I refused to have friends who didn't agree with me, I'd be pretty lonely. But really - yeah, people who have political views you don't agree with can really rub you the wrong way sometimes. Are they people you can have a friendly conversation with? Or are they jerks? If they're jerks, avoid spending time with them because they're jerks, not because of their political views. Likewise, if they're good people, enjoy the time you spend with them regardless of their politics.

I know plenty of pro-gun people (or people who share one or more of my other political views) that really aren't that great to spend time with. I know plenty of people that I disagree with on several key issues, but that are still good people. Sometimes we talk politics and I hope to sway them, or at least test my own beliefs and ability to back them up. Sometimes we avoid the controversies and discuss other things.

It just seems not only sad to pull ourselves into a closed community, but also contrary to our goals of expanding gun ownership and encouraging more people to take up shooting sports and personal defense.

Oh, yeah, but if they think they're coming over to my place if the SHTF, well, as I think I've seen on a sig block on this board - they'd better bring their daughters.

I would & DO. I wouldn't let some flag burning Constitution cherry picking, limp dick pussy come with in 1-200 yds in a SHTF scenario. Let along allow them to have the honor of carrying items my family, your family and a lot of other families fought so hard to enjoy and protect since we tossed the brits out ,at the end of a GUN.

I had a young guy come to work for me a few years ago long hair vegetarian. We spent a lot of time together on the road, over 47000 miles a year and staying in hotels 5 days a week so we had time to talk. Long story short after becoming friends and taking him shooting a few times he now own several guns and eats meat. I really think if you take someone shooting and take the mystery and "fear" out of gun almost anyone will like shooting. I say almost anyone because there will always be libtards that you just can't reach....

Those are the ones i classify as AG. Nothing you do will ever change their min. Flash back how ever many years ago to denver. A venomous AG state rep was being mugged / robbed and who does she call? Not 911 but her neighbor the Gun Nut. It went south when he took a shot a the fleeing perp and hit him in the back.

Educate them don't segregate them. But realize that some will never agree or become indifferent.

sometimes you just have to get new friends. or tell them not to bring it up...you don't bring it up and leave it at that.
