First thing I asked when I met my wife: what are your views on guns? She said she grew up around them, and her whole family hunts. At that point I proceeded with the relationship. No way in hell could I date an anti. And I chose not to have anti friends. I'll still associate with them, just won't be friends.

Relative to guns, my own experience says that if you can get an anti to go shooting with you, you have a chance. Once they get over the very, very common "fear of an inanimate object" that many non-shooters have, they may well enjoy shooting and even want to go again. That is when you have the possibility of them seeing that pro-2A people aren't deranged, rednecks, stupid, or any of the other pejoratives the leftist media routinely distributes. Then they start to question much of the "conventional wisdom" around guns. I have seen profound changes when they question other antis and are shouted down, faced with false facts, or ignored - then they become pro-2A. Every anti I know that is a non-shooter and has continually refused to experience shooting at all has not changed one bit. They are comfortable just reciting the left talking points and agreeing to demonize gun owners. They aren't my friends, but I do interact with many of them in my professional life and some are extended family.

That's what I do. Plus ramble every day about governmental tyranny (which my gf still thinks is impossible) and how much fun collecting, shooting, learning and building Is. Eventually after enough time, they ask to go shooting and often cover the ammo expenses.

Do you think we can improve the state of our country by squaring up on opposite sides and calling each other "my enemy"?

(in reguards to firearms) I guarantee you that is the way you are thought of by your liberal friends..... You are an enemy of right thinking and progressive minded people, and a danger to society for owning a firearm. While the 2nd amendment was nice in its time and was for hunters, no one needs to hunt for their food anymore. And owning an AR-15/Asssault Rifle should be and will be crime. We are just thinking of the children and leading you to a proper outlook for a modern America.

Why are people polarized, we finally reached a point that we will not, cannot, and should not ever compromise on. I have had more than a few friendships go to hell over this, but you know what...I can respect their right to their opinion, they couldn't respect my right to mine. Also, some of them having known me most of my life, many of them trusting me to watch their children, told me I shouldn't own an AR-15 and that they should all be confiscated.

too many people refuse to understand that the cause is not the firearm, and I don't have time for them in my life

I work with a bunch of em, many too young to know jack about why we have rights, just that they agree with Obutthead and generally go though life with blinders on. I don't pretend to relate to their leftist thought process and spend a lot of time antagonizing them with what will you do when scenarious.

I don't know anyone who is overtly anti-gun, but I know several that are indifferent, which is just as bad.
