    Default Assault Weapons Ban?

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum and will soon be new to Colorado. After doing some reading about Colorado gun laws I saw something that stated there is an active "assault weapons" ban ( which we all understand that our weapons are not assault rifles but that is what the gun grabbers want to call our AR 15's, AR 10's, AK 47's etc.My question is about this ban. First, Is there a ban? If so, is it only in Denver? I'm planning on moving to Parker and I'm hoping this ridiculous ban is not applicable to Parker, Colorado.

Denver only has a magazine limit of 20 rounds. There is no real "assault weapons ban", yet.

Right now there is a mag ban within the city limits of Denver. We are currently dealing with proposed legislation on state wide mag limitations, universal background checks and outlawing concealed carry on college campuses. Parker is gtg, for now. Oh and welcome to colorado! I grew up in Parker. It is growing fast.

Welcome. If you make it to Parker, there are several members here that would be happy to take you out to our favorite range to shoot. BLGC.ORG

We are feverishly battling four bills. Mag limits, universal background checks, repeal of campus carry, and BGC fees. Many threads in the politics forum.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong here but from what I know the City of Denver (or is the county?) has a ban in effect for some time now that bans rifles that liberals refer to as Assault Weapons and this includes magazines over 20 rounds.

I also understand that if DPD catches you with one, you will go to jail and be arrested. Then after a few hours they give you the option of being released if you turn over your rifle to them. From what I have heard, I guess if you take this whole thing to court it has cost people several thousands of dollars (not to mention the hassle and all the time wasted) but the charges usually get dropped and in the end you can keep your rifle but it may cost you ten grand.

Personally, I think it is a matter of time before the dems try and expand this ban into the rest of the state. After all, I did hear several of the Dems that testified last week saying that "this ban on high cap mags is a good start". Sounds to me like Rhonda Fields could probably make any kind of gun law she wants and the rest of her crew in charge will pass anything the way our state government is made up right now... Hopefully I am wrong!

The city is the county, the county is the city. The city of Denver completely fills the county of Denver and thus they are one political and geographic entity.
