I've received countless emails and phone calls from the NRA. I can't say what their lobbyists are doing behind the scenes because I'm not privy to that information. I'm not ready to give up on the NRA...far from it. I'm confident there's plenty of arm-twisting going on in the background. There's probably a lot going on that none of us know about.

But on to a bigger point...

Why attempt to deflect blame on to the NRA for what the democrat-controlled state elected "representatives" are trying to do our liberties? The entire premise of the OP seems counter-productive to me.

Jim, I truly believe you've perfectly nailed what the script is for Obama and the national GC/bans. You have nailed it! Very very astute my good man.

The State NRA rep spoke at the committee hearings. He was given far more time then the other speakers. I have received emails and snailmails daily from the NRA ILA regarding Colorado.

Colorado gun control and the NRA were the focus of Glenn Beck's radio show this morning too. This is getting national attention.

added: the NRA won't drop this if/when the bills become law. They have been very effective lately taking these anti 2A laws to court. They have deeper pockets and more lawyers than any other pro 2A lobby. However, in the past they have been able to focus on one or two states at a time. Right now we have many states and the Feds going after the 2A so there is no doubt they will be spread thin. This is a multi front war.

There's a show on the Sportsman's channel at 3 pm everyday on NRA legislation. Colorado has been getting a lot of attention lately.

There are ample members of this very site that can't be bothered to join or donate to the NRA or any other pro-2A organization. Spend plenty on a new firearm? - sure! Spend $35 on an NRA membership? -nope.

The Colorado lobbyist for the NRA did testify in the Judicial Committee hearings last week along with RMGO, CSSA and a couple other organizations.
I would imagine they are directing the majority of their efforts at the national level.

In the FWIW category, after hearing one NRA staffer talk in CO, I am glad they are not there en masse. Our small group has been getting access. When I spoke with a Senator yesterday, his first words were "Oh yeah, I heard about you." The Ds are anti-NRA so I don't even tell them I belong to the NRA. If I get asked, I say yes, but just for the insurance. Then I get asked if I belong to RMGO, I say No, and then they start to talk. If we all stood under then banner of the NRA, or RMGO, we would lose. It is the diversity, the business revenue and the out of staters that are starting to get a few of the Senators to think about the whole thing and not just sending a bad bill to Hickenlooper.
