Earlier this week I asked for help for places to take my Daughter shooting and received a ton of great advice and wanted to share how it went. I ended up taking both of my girls to Left Hand Canyon and I lucked out and we had the place to ourselves for almost 2 hours. My Dad and I set up 3 target stands on the hillside and placed 20 or so clays all over. They started on 22's, but it didnt take long before they wanted to try other calibers. My oldest, who was intimidated by the "looks" of a HK MP5-A5 ended up absolutely thrilled by it and loved the instant feedback of blowing up clays(she got pretty proficient at it). My youngest got a kick out of the larger caliber handguns, especially after she hit bullseye with a 357 from about 15 ft away, she ended up shooting 9mm most of the morning. It was a lot of fun for everyone, and they both want to do it again. I got to impart some really good safety rules and drive them home repeatedly with examples of why they were crucial and I think they both have a better understanding of where I am at with guns and shooting. I am not scary or reckless and the guns arent either, they both have a basic understanding of how guns operate, the respect necessary of that, and the fact that they can be a shit load of FUN. It went far better than I hoped and I posted a couple of pics for the first time here that I hope show up below. Thanks again to everyone for your advice and support.
