My shoulder surgery was also work related but thankfully I didn't have the problems your having.
Post surgery was painful as rehab was too. I was out 3 months before I got released to go back on light duty.
Now that I'm retired I try to keep somewhat fit and I notice shoulder pain if I overdo reps also some pain when humidity is high (old wives tale that seems true).
That was also my first true surgery and I hope the rest of my parts last until it's time to go.

I had a tear and surgery as well. Was an injury when I worked at Wal-Mart back in the mid 90's. They were able to scope mine and fix the tear. Are you getting scoped, or? The surgery itself was not too bad. The physical therapy after (6 months worth) was not very fun at first. Fast forward to now and my shoulder hardly ever bothers me. Sometimes if I sleep on it just wrong, or with quick weather changes it hurts a little, but nothing I can't live with in comparison to the tear. I do still have some crepitation, but it is not nearly as bad as it was prior to surgery.

I think the worst part was when I woke up from surgery. It felt 20x worse than any hangover I ever had. I will take all the pain after and 6 months of physical therapy all over again so I don't have to feel that way again, lol.

I also got my shoulder carved on. Rotator cuff tear, labrum tear, and acromioplasty (they crunch away some bone). The worst part for me was trying to sleep afterwords. I'd wake up every 15 minutes and have to change position. The best solution I found was sleeping in a recliner.

Like Steps said, PT is a bear, but your ultimate recovery is dependent on it. I'm about 10 years out from it, with no significant problems. Best of luck!

I did my rotator cuff, but it wasn't "bad" enough to warrant the surgery. Holy fuck the pain was serious and sleep sucked for months. Rehab was a lot of work and took much longer than my coworker's surgical recovery from his tear that happened a week after mine. Having been through 4 separated (torn ligaments) shoulders and the rotator cuff, my advice is to be DILIGENT with the rehab. Even minor half-assing any part of it will have you dealing with bs for a long time and then possibly dealing with a permanent issue like arthritis in the area.

On the workman's comp issue, we had an employee that was looking for a pay day, so I get the dragging feet approach to claims. This person was nearly shit-canned on at least 2 occasions and was terribly inept at the job. When the "accident" happened, it went from trying to excuse yet another late arrival, to trying to get a few days off, to then trying to get a fully paid, early retirement. The story of the accident had drastic changes in both timeline and location and the severity never stopped escalating. It is because of these types of people that others are made to suffer.

Well, thought I'd revive this thread and file it under "RUFKM?"

So, apparently, lightning can strike twice. Almost 6 years to the day of my first accident it's happened again. Not quite so bad this time. Slipped again, reached for the back of the truck to catch myself, wrenched right shoulder this time.

Son of a bitch. So now I need yet another MRI and get to go thru the whole worker's comp bullshit once again.

Some days it just doesn't pay to get outta bed.

Damn, Carl. That sucks. Just the shoulder, or another concussion as well? I hope you heal quickly, without the need for surgery.

Damn Carl, knock it off already - we need you in one piece when we all come to ID to find places to live.

Get healed up quickly and for heavens sake, be careful.

On a side note, when you tell folks you have gas you get an entirely different reaction than when I tell people the same thing.
