    All good points!

Member ran one for this morning. Is it all there, maybe not. It did give me more information than a perviously had.

Still always takes a good visual inspection. As a body man my whole life, always always check jambs for tape lines from paint. Best indicator of an accident!

I'm just looking for a POS to bomb around anyway. And as mentioned above, people swear by Carfax. Could be a leverage point in making a deal.

Get a pre purchase inspection, they cost so much less then a post purchase inspection.

I have made people cry after they bought a vehicle and had me look at it. One that stands out was a old Bronco II that they had bought a week prior for 2500. I found 3K worth of work 2K of which was safety related.

Anyone able to run a quick motorcycle VIN? Just to make sure it isn't stolen?

Contact your local PD. If someone runs a potential "stolen" vehicle and it bounces HOT. The person running it better have answers.

    my salvaged Blazer is proof.

remember, it only reports to you what is reported to them.
and nothing is reported to them doesn't mean it didn't take swimming lessons after being stolen and get a junkyard engine.
    ^^This^^

Peace of mind cost more than paying a tech for a safety check, PRIOR to buying.

I agree - worthless - but if I buy anything but certified used or new, I want it as well. And not on my dime.

The software in my shop now reports to carfax. Meh. I could stop it but I really have no issues either way with it.
