    I get it.

God knows I've never done anything remotely good enough to deserve the love and joy I get from my dogs.

    Good boy!

Highclss: Have you tried glucosamine chondroitin for his hips? It has worked well for the old dogs in my dog pack.

It's a good ramble. Looks like you just enjoy having him around. I lost my old guy just before I deployed in November, and it's going to hit hard when I get home and he's not there waiting for me.

Of course, the wife got a new yellow lab pup so I'm sure she'll help me get through.

What a handsome and distinguished fella he is! Thanks for sharing with us and posts like this restore my faith in humanity. As long as we have dogs to remind us the simple joy of life... things are somehow not so bad.

It's amazing how much your dog will love you! This was a terrible day for me! Was in North Dakota hunting pheasants with my pup when she started limping. I went over to her and pulled some cactus out of her foot checked it "good" and sent her on her way.. She was limping a little but I called her a sissy and told her to shake it off.. She hunted for about 2 more hours at that spot. When I went to get her to load in the vehicle she wouldn't jump up! I figured she was just too tired but I checked her foot again and picked her up and put her in the truck.

We got out at the next spot she jumped out but right away started limping again! I thought what in the heck is going on I checked her foot again rubbing her pad really well this time! Well my finger felt something hard. I tried to pull it out the first time and it wouldn't come out went for a second time using my nails to get up in there! My eyes must have been huge when I pulled out about an inch and a half thorn that looked like something that came of a crab apple tree! She never whined or anything.. I went to put her up for the day and started walking away when she went nuts barking and whining! I went back and got her out barely limping or anything because she wanted to hunt so bad. We hunted for about an hour longer when I called it a day.

when we got back to the motel I looked at her foot better.. The thorn went all the way through her foot and came out the top! Talk about feeling absolutely terrible! I immediately went to the grocery store and bought some Epsom salt, antibiotic ointment, gauze and duct tape! Was swollen for about 2 days but healed up well.. But this picture shows it all!! I love this dog more than most people! I decided to get the last bird she retrieved for me on that trip because it was a bird that flew about 300 yards before it finally fell from the sky and she brought it back! A real nice male Hungarian partridge that should be here next month.

Good looking pup there buddy! Our chocolate is 12, with the hip issues too. Clucosamine is helping him a lot.
