I've owned and shot PT99s. The downside is that the gun is hit or miss, quality wise. (pun intended) and the PT99 and PT92 are supposedly made on old beretta machinery making them the higher quality Taurus.
The barrels may or may not be centered in the frame at the muzzle. That is why you need the adjustable sights on the PT99. The triggers that I experienced were creepy in single action. Beretta mags will not fit the PT99. the notch is in a different place. You can definitely tell the gun is not as smooth as a Beretta.
The good things: These are very reliable, they handle any ammo well, they are very accurate (arguably more accurate than some Berettas), double action was smooth. I like the frame safety. You used to be able to get MecGar mags for these.
They are not a bad gun, they just are not a Beretta.

I do find both the Taurus 92/99 and Beretta 92 to be too long, too wide and too heavy for a 9mm. I just think there are better choices.
