I'll root for Martin until he wins The 500. Otherwise I like Joey Logano and Tony Stewart. My wife is from Daytona and I lived there a couple of years. Race week is a ball. The track is literally across the street from the mall and it is HUGE. I could hear practice/race at my apartment. Some locals decal their cars out and look like replicas of their favorite drivers. You can get on the infield cheap with an RV and stay all week.

I've only seen one race live and that was a Firecracker 400 race (Pepsi 400, Coke 400 etc) around the 4th of July. It's hard to see on TV but when cars/drivers are faster than others you can really tell. Tony Stewart was so fast that day. He eventually won. There's nothing like standing by the fence at the end of the front stretch and lean into it as the pack comes down at around 200mph. If you ever get the chance, take it. Daytona is way better live than on TV. Much more subtle and the camera doesn't really pick it up well.

yep pretty dry so far.. hope this new car doesnt mean single file racing.. or they will start making changes to it as soon as tomorrow.
