Not to poop on your post there, but Provident is always .75 over spot for OPM rounds and .99 over spot for most bars (cash/check/wire/ACH prices).

Rodney, you may also want to contact The Silver Guys for a local source. You may be able to work a deal like you want with them.

Thanks guys. As Mr. Brutal suggests, Provident is the best deal even including a shipping charge. At the monthly order amount I'm planning on, the total premium over spot, including shipping, is about $1.05 per ounce for OPM 1oz. rounds. The other place I was looking at is JM Bullion. They offer free shipping, but charge about $1.35 over spot per 1oz. round at the quantity I'd be buying.

It would still be nice if I could find someplace that charges a reasonable premium that would just accept my check for a fixed $xxx each month and buy silver rounds with it. They could just accumulate whatever fractional dollar amount might result from receiving my fixed dollar amount payment. Whenever the accumulated dollars reach the right level, just buy me an extra ounce of silver. My goal is to just set up my BillPay system to just send the money. I can do it manually, but it's my nature to forget / put off doing things like this if it's not automated.
No longer accepting new Trust clients. Pretty much out of the law business completely.

Hmm, that definitely pooped on my buying habits from them. I didn't realize Provident was charging that. Thanks for setting me straight!

Certainly not comprehensive, but something to keep an eye on.

There's also a deal thread over on Kitco Silver forums. https://www.kitcomm.com/showthread.p...y-Deals-Thread! Sometimes you can catch some really good deals.

    Rod,

I realize you are hoping for an automated process, but I have had good luck purchasing from Modern Coin Mart and APMEX on Ebay. They almost always offer free shipping, and everyone once in a while offer pretty good discounts. I set price alerts on ebay items so I get an email when, for example, a roll of ASEs goes under $450. I spend about an hour each month looking for the best deal and then it shows up a week or so later at my door or PO box.

If you just want to stash away a set amount of cash each month to invest in PMs, you can do that without the premiums. Just set up a general purpose savings or short-term investment account with your bank and when it reaches your desired goal, place a big order from a reputable company. If that's too complicated, just send the checks to me and I'll keep them safe for you.

I've used Modern Coin Mart and Aydin off eBay with great success.

So.... Provident Metals is advised against? Did I get that right? I just completed my first order with them and it seemed like a good deal. I can't buy the amounts you rich people can buy (maybe a 1/10 or 1/4 gold eagle every once a month) and the prices seemed really good to me.

Having had, and currently going through a dispute with e-bay, I'm loathe to purchase larger $$ amounts through them.

Placed two orders for bulk batteries through a single seller on the same transaction - first mistake since it was free shipping anyway. Seller shipped only one order and claimed delivery on both. My second mistake was not immediately realizing they had the SAME USPS tracking number on both orders. Seller refused to fix it. First time through the dispute, e-bay sided with seller and refused to refund. They also removed the NEG feedback I posted after the refusal. I've clarified the issue and sent pics, now awaiting the appeal. I also opened a case against the other order since the seller had blocked me from even trying to contact them. I calmly explained THEIR COCKUP and that while I understand mistakes can happen, I expect them to make it right. If I lose again, it's off to AMEX to dispute the charge and then I'll have to reevaluate my need for e-bay.

I just called ebay and told them to close my account. The data breach was the straw that broke the camel's back for me. Might even close paypal.
