If it's silver from a reputable vendor, it's still .999 silver.

I heard an interesting interview with the author James Wesley Rawles about expatriating and he said many people have been surprised because in some parts of the world, the precious metals are only valued at their face value, not the intrinsic metal value!!

By generic, I mean the more common private mints like OPM, NTR, etc.

Mine have always come with a nice blue box in a tube with foam pellets taking up the extra space.

I like to diversify. Real estate, IRAs, a few tech stocks, ASEs and MLs, NTM rounds, "junk" silver, etc. This way, if any one market tanks, I'll be okay. If everything tanks (globally) I won't be worse off than anyone else.

    Am I doing it right?

If it's not too late, I would stack some cash for the bottom of the PM market coming.

    And water barrels.

Can anybody recommend a monthly buying program? Ideally, I'd like to find a place where I could send a check each month to buy 1oz. silver rounds on the 10th of each month for X% over spot price. These rounds would be accumulated until I reached a certain level and then they'd be shipped to me once I reached a minimum for free shipping.

Of course I'm concerned about finding an entity who's trustworthy and doesn't charge some ridiculous premium for the service. I'd also want reasonably low minimum accumulation requirements for free shipping because I really don't want somebody else holding MY silver until I reach a bazillion dollars or whatever.

My concerns/goals are: (a) I'd like to automate the process because I know I'd be more likely to get it done, and (b) I feel like shipping adds considerable expense when we're talking about less than 100 ounces at a time.

Thanks in advance for any advice...

BTW: I've Googled this and it seems like everything I've found has some sort of catch. Once place buys and accumulates it on paper for a very small premium over spot price, but then charges you 10% to have your account converted to actual silver and shipped to you. Not a deal. Another place charges basically double the going rate over spot, but will ship it to you for free when you reach 100+ ounces. Their premium is so high, I'd be better off just buying from Provident or wherever and just paying the shipping charge.

No longer accepting new Trust clients. Pretty much out of the law business completely.

Buy a monster box and just about any of them will ship free.

APMEX does this sort of - through a "Secure Storage" option. http://www.apmex.com/citadel However, I think their premiums are high. perhaps they cut deals on monthly purchases. Dunno really.

I'm just a noob, so there's probably better options than what I've found.

You can also fund a PM backed IRA, there's lots out there, but I don't qualify so haven't dug deep. For physical silver, my best deals so far have been with Provident Metals.

Dealers that offer free shipping have higher premiums, most any that have lower premiums ship free over $5k but don't let you combine shipping on orders.

Now someone else will come in and correct everything I said...

Check out CloudHardAssets.com, I've dealt with them a lot and they ship free without having to spend a bunch. They often have specials, recently 1 oz silver bars were $1.25 over spot. They're really good folks to deal with.
