Tinkered with my Remington trigger today
Thought I would share what I did in case anyone wants to tell me I screwed up.
First, the trigger is a factory Remington X Pro trigger with the external adjustment. Not sure why it would need two trigger springs and the pull weight was atrocious even with both adjustment screws backed all the way off.
So, what I ended up doing was removing the internal adjuster and spring altogether and taking the adjustment screw completely out of the external adjustment. The spring for the external adjustment is contained and is still under tension with the adjuster screw removed.
The pull is still a bit heavy but since I don't want to put forth the effort to cut anything apart to remove the external adjuster spring I guess it is about as good as it gets for now.
Even with the internal spring and adjuster removed and the adjuster screw completely removed from the external adjustment I couldn't get it to trip by slamming the bolt shut or banging the butt on the floor or by tapping on the trigger mechanism with the handle of a screwdriver.
I'm pretty sure it's safe "as is" but I will definitely be replacing the trigger assembly soon.
Before anybody freaks out, this rifle isn't carried in the field and a round isn't chambered until it's pointed safely down range and ready to fire.
