    The X Marks are all over the board, some adjust up nice and others won't adjust at all.
    They are garbage.
    Do not under any circumstances attempt to alter a factory Remington trigger.
    You are flirting with disaster. A stock Remington safety only blocks the trigger, leaving the sear to do what it chooses. We have all heard the stories of a Remington going boom when the safety was disengaged or jarred.
    Now you know why.
    Hang a Timney 510, Jewell or similar. The sear is blocked by the safety on them.
    Ray, Google the Remington 700 safety test, perform this test a couple of times before doing anything more.
    The most important thing to be learned from those who demand "Equality For All" is that all are not equal...

    Thanks for the prompt response, Bert.

    I put everything back as it came from the factory before I sold the rifle about six months ago.
