Default anybody ever heard of this?!?!

A buddy of mine went into Bass Pro yesterday to buy an FN5-7. filled out all the paperwork and while he was doing it, the clerk working there informed him there is a 7 day wait period on that weapon... When he asked them why they did the wait on guns they said that it wasnt on all guns, just THAT model that he wanted(the 5-7). I have never heard of such a thing! Is it something from FN that they make you wait 7 days? Why would that be? Why is the wait just on that weapon? It makes no sense to me at all! I obviously advised him to go somewhere else because A. thats the dumbest thing i have ever heard, and B. he is probably paying to much through them!

I wonder if it was some employee working there that just transfered from another state that has a 7 day waiting period and didn't know Colorado laws.

I thought CBI had to give an OK or not within 24 hours.

I haven't heard that there was a longer wait on any weapons other than restricted that needed a tax stamp like SBR's etc.
I say lets all remove the warning labels and let nature take its course.

I might be wrong, but once upon a time there were issues with CBI and the info they had one me, they didn't clear the instant check and stated they had 72 hours to approve or deny. The CBI agent I worked with on getting things cleared up said that if after 72 hours they hadn't denied it, the store could release it and if there was a denial after that, they'd just send a sherrif over to retrieve the weapon.

The Store on the other hand, wouldn't release the weapon unless the BG check came back clear. Their policy was to wait the 10 days and then return the weapon (I'd had it shipped in).. so with a little store visit along with an Arapahoe County Deputy, I walked out with my AR (the first one) after 3 days. The Store by the way is now known as Dick's Sporting Goods. Still don't shop there.

The Five-seveN got a reputation as a gang-banger weapon since the original ammo had body armor defeating properties. The armor piercing ammo is now restricted.

Not sure why someone would want one. They're ugly as hell and the tiny projectile means you have to hit something very vital since blood loss would take a while. Ammo is also verrrry expensive.

I wish technology solved people issues. It seems to just reveal them.

The best reason I can think of to buy a Five-SeveN is to make a match set with the PS90 in my gun safe

yeah i figured that it was a total load of BS! and yeah, i also see the 5-7 as worthless, kinda neat, but worthless and ugly. he isnt hurting for money, so its just another "nifty toy" to him.

You have my curiosity going now. Of course the 7 day wait is a load of BS. I'm just wondering if they told him it was a "law" or "store policy" to force you to wait. Then I would have the sales clerk, call the manager.

Either way, I'd go somewhere else to buy one.

There is a lot of mis information reguarding the FN FiveseveN. If you want to really read up on what it is and isn't capable of, try checking here:

    http://fivesevenforum.net/forum_index.php

There shouldn't be any difference between it and any other handgun purchase. Either the salesman didn't know what he was talking about or he was trying to discourage the sale.

The so called "restricted" Military and LE ammo is now readily available to the public sold as Varmint rounds, or so I have been told.
