I was in Sportsmans Warehouse last weekend looking for more CCI MiniMags to add to my stockpile. My friend was also looking for for .40 S&W. They were out of both! But I did happen to see some 5.7 ammo and checked it's price out of curiosity and it was over $21!!

Just to close the loop when we got back home, we ordered 1000 rounds of Federal .40 HydraShok from Ammoman.com for $525. The last batch of .40 I bought was more like $175. Now I need to find some more cheap 9mm to add to my stash.

I haven't heard that there was a longer wait on any weapons other than restricted that needed a tax stamp like SBR's etc.

That guy was full of it, and should have been called on it. The only other circumstance is if the background check was "delayed" in which some big box stores have a 3 to 7 day period (depends on the store policy) in which they will hold the transfer unless they are notified sooner by the CBI. I sold a few of those guns at Gander and there where no such waiting periods. 7idl there are stupid people everywhere. Gander Mtn is not immune for sure. The fact is that the big box stores won't pay to keep knowledgeable people behind the counters. It doesnt matter which one.

Not true. The "restricted" ammo (SS190) was never sold to civilians in the US and the varmint rounds have a polymer tip so they expand on impact. Polymer tipped 5.7 X 28 bullets do not penetrate modern ballistic vests.

Isn't Bass Pro located within the Denver limits? Possibly it's a Denver thing, but I rather doubt it.

There is no Colorado statute that requires a waiting period on any weapon. CBI can delay up to 72 hours as has been stated, but only if your BG check has issues (such as an ambiguity caused by a RO on someone with your name). This is more likely if you have a common name and don't put your Social Security on the 4473.
