apparently, the Army CoS made comments regarding sequestration and gun control.

I won't comment, but I thought I'd open this for the general populace:

should Active Duty service members make comments such as those in the brief article?

i tried to get out of the article what his thoughts were, but I couldnt. he shouldnt have been able to go on that kind of program as an AD person. but, if he is agreeing with civilian gun control, then it reinforces what I have been saying. military wont neccesarily side with US. they will do what they are told in many instances.

The Army field manual specifically states that civilian disarmament is one of the 1st things you need to do when you occupy any territory.. Why would anyone think that Army Brass would think any differently?

Watched it this morning and he did say he, personally, favors the bills and went one step further by stating he favors registration, at least for service members.

I'm not .mil so I'm sure I have a misunderstanding (or two), but aren't people in these positions basically 'appointed' to be there? So I'd assume that they'd be "on board" with the policies of those that helped them get where they are...? History tells me, if nothing else does, that the higher the position, the less likely they can be trusted to be defenders/enforcers of OUR freedoms!?

The Brass usually aren't real soldiers. Half the guys above the rank of Captain are privileged frat boys not much different from a politician. If they haven't got a tab on their arm they should not be commanding combat troops . . . especially if they are "leading" from a fortified bunker far from the front lines.

Not surprising. He was appointed to post by Obama. Army is weird sometimes - there have been several post commanders that have tried ridiculous things like telling soldiers that live off post they can't CCW or keep guns in their house.

They shouldn't comment as a member of the military. If they do comment, it should be as a private citizen. However, in this day and age, posting something on FB or a public forum that can be tied back to you can still get your ass fired or NJP'd... so a wise person will keep their mouth shut in a print form.
