CO or any other state cannot compel a manufacturer in another state to put date stamps on magazines. Maybe they should just stop doing it?

My FN brand SCAR 16s mags ARE date stamped it appears. Month and year at least. I believe they work in the AR but haven't tried them personally.

Also I was told 416 mags are dated as well.

My few tapco mags are dated.

Nothing requires manufacturers to date their mags. You could haul in a thousand on them after the date and they couldn't say shit unless they could prove it. Then it brings up the point in having a thousand mags...you would normally buy that many to distribute among other freedom loving individuals...npbut they have that base covered in the current bill. Mso you will either become a criminal on the black market or own a thousand mags that they can't prove when you owned them
All I have in this world is my balls and my word and I don't break em for no one.

And theres the rub... whenever I chase that rabbit down the hole of non-compliance I come back to the ultimate threat of losing the right to even own a gun because now I'm a criminal for having a simple magazine. What a CROCK OF SHIT ! I suppose post dated mags can become safe queens for when SHTF, or for shooting out of state, or hope it all goes away after 2014 when the Dems take an ass-kicking because of this overreach.

True, but the FEDS can...and we have not yet seen what else they might try to pass.

The "Take a Picture with a Newspaper" method does not easily prove something is old; it is used mainly to prove something is new.
In the mag case we'd like to prove is was old ....or owned prior to 01JUL13.

I could take a picture of a mag with today's newspaper (01MAR13), and save the newspaper.
On 02JUL13 I could give that mag to "Joe" and have Joe take a picture with the saved newspaper from 01MAR13.

One could not tell the difference in date of ownership using the two pictures, if they looked at the two pictures on 03JUL13.

Since non-dated/non-serialized mags are indistinguishable, one could also not tell if it was the same mag in the early picture as in the later picture.

It is a good thing the "burden of proof" of violation rests on the prosecution, per 13-1224.

What is the severity punishment wise for having standard capacity magazines? I'm more concerned about having to make bail or incurring legal fees for having mags that I am allowed to have.

Justice never comes cheap. There are thousands of cases where an innocent person either incurred huge expenses to obtain acquittal or "caved" and falsely pled guilty to charges (or lesser charges) to avoid the expenses of fighting the charges.
