Lightbulb NDAA 2012, Congress, and Kraven's Conspiracy Corner

This came out of a fairly innocent discussion about the current state of Congress, the President and some gun grabber discussions. You know the ones that we all have from time to time and unfortunately much more frequently recently. There are always the parallels drawn from history with tyrants and fascists and how they came to power etc.

The discussion shifted slightly to the sequester and how it is going to impact the country, how people are scared, and fearful ...and how Congress has been the problem etc. This got me to thinking, probably a bit too much. When you listen to the rhetoric from the President about Congress you hear phrases "scare tactics," and "holding the country hostage," and there are more of them along that vein. These are some of the same words the current and past Presidents have used to describe terrorists.

Under the NDAA 2012, the President can indefinitely detain anyone based on suspicion of terrorism. That has seen quite a few challenges but I hadn't heard anything about that being overturned or removed. Many of us on these very forums have called members of Congress treasonous and in direct contradiction to the Constitution.

How many people do you think would cheer and rejoice if tomorrow Congress was arrested?

    ...with thunderous applause.

If the President had it done? He'd be worse than them. There's a process in place for correcting problems, and the whole problem thus far has been that process NOT being used by elected representatives, to include the President. And I'm not talking about NDAA 2012; I'm talking about our previous laws and Constitution. They've all been abusing those laws, all this would be is a greater abuse.

I'm really tired of more laws being the answer to everything....the lazy, ineffective answer. But this wouldn't be it either.

This would most definitely NOT be the right answer, but when I had the thought about the way Congress is painted right now, it made me blink. I doubt it would happen, but that is why I called it the Conspiracy Corner. It is just the right set of events lining up that make you wonder if you are about to be history's witness to something horrible.

Yeah, I get it. Seems to me that one of the things that would allow something terrible to happen would be a populace convinced that "It can't happen here" and so apathetic and/or stupid that they allow...the situation we have now.

I think that's why so many people who up until now have not spoken up when they should have, are. Too bad so many of them waited so long.

I don't remember who, but someone recently suggested that the federal government should just simply STOP for a period of time. This sounded like a dream come true to me!

    Step 1. Grab the guns
    Step 2. Arrest Congress
    Step 3. <mumble>

In 27 days they run out of money, and the fed supposedly would have to "shutdown." There might be a parade.

Being a federal employee of sorts, I have mixed feelings about how this will impact my mission, but honestly.... I really do wish the fed would shut down indefinitely. DHS, IRS, Food stamps, etc. All of it.

I honestly think this would fix a lot of sh!t in a hurry via natural selection.

Only thing that worries me on that front is the folks that need the VA or some of the other services that are helping the elderly etc would get shit on too. They've done a bang up job of intertwining the people that are bleeding the system with the ones that earned the right to use it so that to stop one you damn the other.
